FAQ's

What if I produced a while ago and feel rusty?

Don’t worry! Since this is a beginner-hobbyist course -your mentor will refresh important music production and theory concepts in the classes as they progress. The basics come back quickly with guided practice.

I’ve never finished a song before. Will I be able to complete one in this course?

Yes - that's the whole point. You’ll be taught and guided step-by-step to turn your ideas into a complete, original track. By the end of the course, you’ll eventually have created a finished composition.

What software will we be using?

The course is taught using Ableton Live Intro 12, a beginner-friendly Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) that's powerful and widely used by professionals worldwide.
You'll also receive a full working license of Ableton Live Intro 12 as part of your enrollment.

Will I learn how to arrange my song for release?

Yes. You’ll learn how to build intros, verses, choruses etc., 02 and how to use arrangement to shape the song’s energy.

Do I need expensive gear to take this course?

Not at all. You only need a laptop and headphones to
get started. However, having some quality gear does
help with music making. We have also recommended in
this guide, some optional, budget equipment - if you
wish to upgrade your setup now (or later).

How is this coursedifferentfrom YouTube tutorials?

Honestly? YouTube's great but it's scattered and one-size-fits-all.
This course gives you structure, realtime learning, personal feedback, expert mentorship, and a community to grow with. That's something YouTube or pre-recorded lessons just can't match.

What kind of track will I be able to produce by the end?

You'll produce a complete, original track from scratch, in a genre that you prefer and something you can proudly share or build upon further. But for the sake of accessibility and common interest, we'll deal with pop-music production in our sessions.

What language is the course conducted in?

The sessions are in English, with Hindi support wherever needed, making sure everyone is comfortable and can fully understand the material.

Is this course pre-recorded or live?

All sessions are live and interactive on Zoom. You can ask questions, get feedback, and learn in real-time with your mentor and batchmates

Do I need to know music theory to take this course?

Yes. Although this course doesn’t need a high-level
music composition and theory knowledge, to
understand and apply the concepts taught in the
sessions, you should have a basic understanding of
music theory and production, something we cover in
ASA 1 - Music Production for Beginners course.

What happens after the course ends?

You'll walk away with a finished track, a solid foundation, and clear next steps to keep growing. You'll also get access to exclusive alumni resources, community updates, and follow-up opportunities.

Will I get personal feedback on my music?

Yes. Our mentors give individual feedback during live sessions, while balancing time fairly across the group. One-on-one attention throughout isn't possible in a cohort setting, but everyone gets guided support.
For deeper, personalised help after the course, students can explore ASA's one-on-one mentorship program.

What's the ideal age group for this course?

We've had learners from ages 12 to 50+. If you're curious, committed, and ready to learn, this course is for you age is no barrier.

Do I need to sing well to take this course?

No, you don’t. The course is about songwriting and arrangement, and not vocal performance. You’ll learn to use vocals as a compositional tool, and be able to work with other singers.

Can I join if I live outside India?

Yes, the course is fully online and open internationally.
Just make sure the session timings align with your time
zone.

I’m a school/college student. Can I manage this course with my studies?

Definitely. The course is designed for busy schedules - 3 sessions per week, 1.5 hours each, giving you enough time to learn and practice in between the classes. As long as you’re excited to learn, you’ll be able to balance both.

Do I have to know how to play an instrument to compose music?

No you don’t. Although, knowing an instrument like keyboard or guitar surely helps with ideas. And we in-fact recommend that you do learn to play keyboard/piano basics. But you can
absolutely compose using just your DAW by drawing in melodies, chords, and experimenting with sounds.

Will this course help me develop my own sound or style?

Yes. We aim to help you discover your musical voice using your own personal experiences, while teaching solid composition and arrangement basics that adapt to any
style.

I only know how to produce beats. Is this course still for me?

Definitely. If you're a beat-maker looking to level up into full songs - melodies, harmonies, structures etc. - this course will fill in the gaps.

What if I’m more of a singer than a producer?

Perfect. As long as you have a basic music production understanding necessary for this course, you'll learn how to turn your vocal ideas into complete songs, supported by arrangement and basic production techniques.

Is this course only for pop music?

Pop is our base for teaching structure and storytelling, but what you create can lean into R&B, indie, hip-hop, soul - it’s all welcome and supported.
